This is the penultimate picture from my May holiday sadly.
It was just about 8pm when a couple of these deer appeared, so the light was pretty poor by then; a shame the other pictures I took of both of them didn't work too well.
A Muntjac wandered down through the grass near where the Mallard had been.
Knew I'd never seen one of these before and pointed it out to other people in the hide; they told me what it was. We don't get them in Scotland, at least not round here.
So hot on the heels of the morning's Lifer...
This young animal was accompanied by a male and female and was about to drink from a nearby pool. It appeared to be playing hide-and-seek amongst the trees.
We were drifting downstream on Sunei Tahan looking for birds (of course) and these two were an unexpected bonus. Very shy and rarely seen in the rainforest.
We were walking back to the visitors centre at Rutland water when my wife spotted this deer in the hedge bottom. We watched it for a few minutes then it moved into the open so i managed to get a shot, my first of one.
