This fellow was unafraid of pedestrians or bicycle and was just sleeping there, just off the paved trail. Only until this forum ID'd it as a domesticated duck that it made sense.

This is a native of Mexico and tropical America that has established itself in Florida. It is now considered an invasive species and as of 2010 is on Florida's hit list. Not sure what to think about this.
