mushroom

I came across this mushroom on one of my nature walks near Tokai Forest in the south suburbs of Cape Town. recognizing it only as a wild mushroom. unknown of its scientific name or if it is eatable or not. I would be grateful if someone in the know could advise the correct identification name...

A cool looking Fungi.

Bolete Mushroom (Pulchroboletus rubricitrinus: Boletaceae)

Cauliflower Mushroom (Sparassis spathulata: Sparassidaceae) with a Carolina Mantleslug (Philomycus carolinianus: Philomycidae) 5.0-10.0 cm.

Taken in my back garden this morning. It was growing on a dead tree stump.

I ran across it and found it interesting but know nothing. Can someone offer anything?

thought they will not grow this September as we had no rain last winter, but i had several. was really bright so i decided to play a bit with the contrast, hope you like

This mushroom popped up one day as a brown button, then opened to reveal this beautiful 'flower' pattern on its top.
