After an hour of standing at the feeders, my back was giving out, so I joined Phil in the East Hide. I've not managed to walk that far for years! At least I was able to sit down for a late lunch LOL. A pair of Mute Swans came fairly close to the water's edge but not close enough together to get...

    Mute Swan

Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) This is a non-native species in the USA. Some states are taking measures to remove them due to their aggressive behavior towards native waterfowl. We noticed three of them about three months ago on a pond on the north side of US 290 between Bauer Road and Becker Road on...

Was trying to get this mute swan just as it put its bean in the water. But came back with a photo which would put Tom Daley to shame. Not a ripple in sight.

    Goosander Chaos!

Goosanders from last year at Hogganfield Loch. They've become very bold, and, sawbills or not, compete with the large population of birds for the bread donated from families who come in huge numbers to "feed the ducks". They come in very close to the edge, to the point where I've got...

When taking my mother for a drive along the coast , I saw a few mute swans in a lagoon and I took this photo from the car with my bridge camera. I didn't even switch off the engine.
