    Bird Ident

Good morning. Can anyone help identify this bird? The photo isn't that good but it has black on each breast with a grey line going down the middle. I have looked and cannot identify it to save my life. Unless it is molting which it could also be. Thank you for the help Bill

Field Review of my (four) binoculars and my gear setup

I was on a lake near Bucharest. The lake is beautiful in the middle of the forest, like in a fairy tale. It is full of cut tree stumps that the birds use as a post. Walking in this wonderful place, I noticed a family of alcedo atthis (kingfisher) that were fishing a lot in this beautiful lake...

    Northern Goshawk

Local female Goshawk watching me as I checked her nest last Summer (under licence). She never alarm called or made a fuss which is unusual for this species. The nest itself was eye level to a footpath just metres away so her silence helped in not drawing attention to her three chicks which all...

    Beyond Barry Hill

Barry hill sits almost in front of our house. We are situated on farmland and the wildlife around blows my mind on a daily basis, may I never grow bored of it. I'd like to share what I see every day, whether at home or on our wanderings around the area. I'm a walker, who owns a couple of...

    Young bird debate

Hi all, I grabbed a few quick shots of a wee bird over the weekend and it was only when I got them on the 'pooter that I realised I wasn't sure what it is so, I posted to a couple of FB groups, which set off a bit of a debate. What do you think? What is it? After some research, I was thinking a...

Female Sparrowhawk with Starling. Nature at it's most brutal. She visits our garden from time to time. This day she stayed for nearly 4 hours after killing this Starling, eventually flying off with just the carcass.

Hello! My name is Evgeny Kotelevsky. I’m an amateur herpetologist. I travel the world – from rainforests and deserts to the most remote corners of our planet – searching for reptiles and amphibians. Unfortunately, many species face extinction, that’s why I try to take videos of all species I...
