I thought this was a really attractive tree to find this Noisy Friarbird in (especially as, although interesting), they're not really the prettiest of honeyeaters. You maybe don't realise that their heads are actually black skin, they have bald heads with no feathering!

Back at home the birds were lining up in the garden now. Firstly this Noisy Friarbird, remember he's the one with the little knob on the top of his bill.

We were then making our way back towards the city but called in at the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve. We then went for a wander along a trail into the woodland but the birds seemed to be all in hiding due to the midday heat. Back in the car park I spotted this Noisy Friarbird up a tree, so...

    Keeping quiet

A Noisy Friarbird paid a quick visit to the garden, but didn't come down for any water or food at that point anyway. I only got the one image of him up in a tree.

    In case you....

.... didn't really believe that friarbirds are honeyeaters, here's one taking nectar from a Banksia flower. We'd just emerged from the coastal path and were about to join civilisation in the village.

I'd just taken some pictures of that lovely view, turned round to continue with the walk when this Noisy Friarbird was seen up in a tree.

Lifer's still coming think and fast.... Ken spotted this Noisy Friarbird up in a tree as we made our way back through the woodland. For those who don't know these birds, the give-away ID feature is the knob on top of the upper mandible.

Doing what they do. I guess you could say I'm cheating now... Took this one out my open study window, but I did have to roll the chair back about 50 cm from the computer.

Knowing that the Grevilleas were in flower I dashed off to the Port of Brisbane early this morning in between rain showers. As the sun came out and the nectar stated to flow I was rewarded by several different Honeyeaters visiting the site and feeding

The smaller Honeyeaters were being chased from the tree by a Lewin's Honeyeater when this chap breezed in for a feed. ( Didn't manage a shot of the Lewin's )
