Hi Folks;
After patiently waiting for 10 years the Northern Cardinal returned this morning to our garden with the Black-headed Grosbeak for the first time in the 21 years we haved lived here. With another Tricocereus Flying Saucer in full bloom it is a great morning.
Like the dark looking red contrasting with the brown on this one. She has a bit different look than the other cards that come to backyard. Can almost always pick her out in the bunch.
Set my Christmas Tree out back after we take it down and let it gather a little snow, then throw a handful of seed on it and the birds like it as a perch and makes a better photo than having them just on the feeder.
My in-laws have a wonderful wooded area which they keep a feeder closer to the house. It is always a great joy to go out there to watch the birds. This particular day was very windy but the birds didn't mind at all.
Such lovely birds and we are so lucky to have them here in the garden. This winter there are two males and three females visiting the feeders on a regular basis. This fellow has a bit of the fresh snowfall clinging to his beak. We've been getting a lot of snow this month and so far have had...
Couldn't get a shot of the lady cardinal on a tree perch so will have to settle for a feeder shot.
The male is brilliant in this bird but love the subtle colors of the female.
Still posting photos from backyard as we keep getting snow that I have to stick around the house to clean up. Have to work on snowblower this AM as it stopped moving halfway thru my cleanup last night.
Anyway, the cardinals this year seem even more bright, maybe it's the contrast with the snow...
About seven inches of snow around here this morning, thats a bunch for us. Now ice on top of it. Anyway this Northern Cardinal, along with a few other birds were in the Bradford Pear tree this morning.
I've not gotten any Cardinal photos for a while now so was really pleased when this beautiful boy came and posed for me in some lovely light. Such a handsome fellow.
Well Peeps,
Weve had some of that white stuff here overnight, still some small flakes coming down at the moment. Three from our US trip for ya today, stay warm yall.
