At Kealia Pond I asked if there were any other birding hot spots nearby that I had missed. I had one more morning that I could spend birding, so it had to be close to Wailea. They suggested a little pond at the end of a gravel road down to Makena Beach. Very near my hotel, so easy to get there...

I was very excited about this bird because I had never seen it before. I went to the I.D. forum and found out it is a native of south east Asia, and they are breeding in Southern California. It and another was bathing in a very small stream. So I guess this is now a bird of North Amercia.

This little beauty was in a small flock of about 6 to 8 that came to visit my complex. They have had a small established population near my place for years now and nest near the San Diego river which is about 1/4 mile or so from where I live.

Never know what is going to show up when out on a shoot. The target bird for the day was to be warblers: most specifilally Yellow, Townsends and Black-Throated Grey. The Yellow warbler was seen early and recorded. It was while trying to coax out a Marsh Wren (with recorded calls) that a bird...
