The whistling call of Tristram's Starlings echoes in the wadis of Southern Oman making them enjoyable to see. A group of birds let me approach them down to a few metres after a pleasant camping. I was rather dark at the bottom of the wadi but still managed to get a few shots.

Resident Bird in Sohar, Oman Drab grey birds, always running away in to the shrubs, females are slightly bigger.

An increasingly regular winter visitor to Oman, possibly from the small breeding population in Yemen. This bird had perhaps been stunned by wires as it tried to land with others at the sewage works. It appeared stunned as it sat under a small acacia close to the road

Taken in December 2010. Converted to B&W with a Red Filter via Lightroom presets. Some tweaking with sharpness, contrast. Its actually quite good fun messing with the pre-sets I hadn't tried before.
