The dark neck patch is visible only when the bird is calling.
He had me confused for a while- there is a Dark-necked Tailorbird in the North-east and there has been sporadic sightings reported in other areas according to Grimmett and Inskipp.
I took this shot while walking along the boardwalk at Chiang Khan, in Loei province, Thailand, on the banks on the mighty Mekong River. I love the expression of this bird!

Found this tailor bird hopping in a bush in a residential area. An unexpected find for me. Considering the lack of a long tail feather and the month, I think it might be a female.
