Got a call from a friend alerting me to a Spotted Eagle Owl in his drive way, made the 8km drive for a chance for some daylight shots of these nocturnal creatures.

This is another shot of the short-eared owl that just hovered right in front of me ...

It was very special for me that this owl decided to land and give me this quick pose ...

It's always a treat for me to get a decent shot of these owls in flight. They are so fast and blend in with the background so well they create quite the challenge, for me anyway, to attain focus. I am always impressed by their wing span compared to their size.

When this short-eared owl landed with his back to me I kept saying to myself, "look this way".

Bit of luck to catch this snowy just as it was taking off.
