A few days ago , I posted a picture of a Painted Lady showing the undersides of the wings.Today I am posting a picture of the same butterfly showing the uppersides of the wings.
There were two of them flitting about near the low wall between the sandy beach and the coastal road.Seeing them was the best moment in a long day , spent birdwatching with no great success.

I was pleased when I found this butterfly because I hadn't seen one for years. I decided to take this photo even though it was not perched conveniently on a leaf . It had landed on the ground. So , no clean backdrop , just grass and twigs.
