Check up on my two friends in the tangle today. You can tell from their depressed crops that they are not full and therefore in "hunt mode." She (on the left) departed while I was watching in an unsuccessful pursuit of a meal.

...go like this! This is a female falcon 12/Z (Black/Green), hatched in 2006; has now successfully fledged 17 young.

She is returning from spanking a mature Red-tailed Hawk who flew too near to her territory.

This is my favorite falcon, if not my favorite bird. When I turned to see her I spotted her mate first who was dropping his prey mid-air, then caught it again, but dropped it. Both of them came back to see if they could find the lost prey; that is what she is doing while I took her photo here.
