I believe this is a immature male. Did not find a pic to compare with female.

Starting off the new year with a bird that is an uncommon sighting (one or two a year) in our county every year. Toward the end of December and into January, this bird can be seen in the same park. He didn't let me down this past week when we went to find him.

This guy was really strutting his stuff, looking for love!!

Playing with my depth of field, and the Female Phainopepla was quite helpful.

Eleven of these birds were counted in our county's Christmas Count which is up from five in the previous count.

Normaly these will go after the coffe berries, but we had some weather hear and that always gets the birds to eating just about anything, to derive energy for had, cold nights.

Spotted this one at a local park. Only one or two are ever recorded in our county every year. Not a great photo but I'm always happy to find a new visitor to our area.
