These birds don't give much notice when they fly from the undergrowth. This was taken during a cold and frosty morning last month.

One of my first shots using the Canon 500mm f/4. Although the day was extremely dull, infact completely miserable, light-wise, I was pleasantly surprised at the images I was getting. As a very rough estimate I'd guess this bird was about 30-35 feet away. (Still to try the lens on a tripod)...
