I joined DocDuck on a wild good chase this Tuesday to Verdal and Levanger and we were not disappointed. We have seen over 30,000 pink footed geese at several staging areas.
They are called Kortnebbgås in Norwegian because of their small and stout pink beak.
It looks like I've used Photoshop and 'cloned' these geese, but this is exactly how they were!
Taken on a bright sunny day in Aintree with the sun right overhead - it's a weird effect.
I have more photos of this event - there were hundreds - and they made SUCH a racket, but it was a wonderful...
Have you got a spare hour in the day? Nothing to do? Life getting you down?.....then join in the fun game, HOW MANY PINK FOOTED GEESE ARE THERE?....Have fun or alternatively use the hour by going outside and seeing nature.
As anyone can see my passion is with bird flight. I love capturing patterns in formation and I love playing and experimenting with different light. This photo was shot over exposed and back lit. The birds were so pale you could barely see them but what I was not expecting was the spectrum of...
Couldnt think of a suitable title for this photo so have added the first thing that came to me when I saw the photo. Facing into the sun I photogrpahed these Pink feet as they descended down into Martinmere
I wish sound could accompany these photos as the call of the pink feet is so evocative. The light was stunning on Sunday. A great day to be out watching!
Nothing in art has ever inspired me more than the work of Sir peter Scott. Wildfowl over marshes has always been my favourite subjects to photograph. Today Marshside was very quiet but the Pink feet out on the marsh were great to watch and hear.
Anyone familiar with Martinmere will know how dominant the gas towers are on the landscape. To me photographing the geese flying in front gives a real feel of how nature meets man.
When the pink feet first came in they were very distant at the back of the mere but after half an hour the sound of geese calling was deafening as an immense flock flew over the back of the hide. The sky darkened and for the next five minutes five thousand pink footed geese descended on the...
My day today started out badly when i dropped and broke my 350d. So I went to Martinmere with the 300d instead. Not a happy prospect but it was better than nothing.
The pink footed geese were spectacular today. 18,000 were present with the first of the whooper swans also amongst them. The light...
OK not the most inspiring goose photo you will ever see but it is the promise of whats soon to come that is so exciting!
Pink footed geese are moving through the area in their thousands and not far behind will be the Whooper swans and all the wildfowl. It makes the winter such an exciting season...
Large numbers of Icelandic Pink Footed Geese winter in central Scotland where they graze on pasture & root crops. Though wary they follow certain flightpaths between roost & feeding grounds & can be "picked off" in flight.
