Pink-footed Goose

Came across this Pink-footed Goose hiding in the grass close to the path i was walking on.

I was feeding my garden birds one morning and heard .... ooooh where are they?!! Grabbed my camera and searched the sky; they suddenly appeared over the top of some houses. A lovely skein of Pink-footed Geese.

I managed to get a few visits in to Kinnordy in October, before the light hours became too short. As soon as I sat down in the hide, some geese flew over, had no time to adjust the camera settings so not the best of pictures. Pretty sure they're Pink-foot though. My first of the season.

A nice day and thought I'd have a wander along the river to see what I could see..... absolutely nothing!!! So did some retail therapy;) Returning to my car I suddenly heard..... managed to grab my camera in time to catch this lot before they disappeared behind the trees. Woke up to snow this...

FOS Our last stop that day and hardly any light left at all. In a field near Kirriemuir we at last found some Pink-feet and loads of them. This picture shows about half the flock. A bit of a shame they were so far the other side of the field though.

AAP Back in 2005 I paid an autumn visit to Vane Farm to see the geese. Hundreds of pinkies had arrived - this picture shows just a few of them. Somewhere, in amongst, was a Barnacle Goose. Digiscoped through the heat haze.

Not a great shot, but a newbie for me.

This photo is dedicated to all the young pink footed geese that arrive at martinmere for the first time ever. To see such unfamilar territory must be daunting indeed.
