    He fooled me

    I immediately thought it was a female Summer Tanager but when I expanded it I saw the red starting on its front so realized it was an immature male.

    The males take two years to acquire the all red plumage of adults. This is an immature (first alternate plumage) hatched in 2020 with a patchy mixture of bright red and mustard-yellow recalling the colors of sherbet.

    I wish I could show more of the Sherbert Ice Cream-looking bird but the stay was very short and this was picked out of the one set of pictures I could get off.
