Pacific Golden Plover

Yearly visitor from Alaska

Increasingly scarce in California, this was part of a flock of seven birds foraging in a short grass field. They are long-distance migrants breeding from the Russian Far-East to northern Alaska, and migrating as far as Australia and New Zealand. The yellowish eyebrow, extensive gold spangling...

These were common throughout the island.

It must have been a tiring but a great migration for these birds. Enjoying the marsh lands of the Indian subcontinent.

They arrive in April and leave in September on their migrations to and from Siberia and Alaska
