Not sure whether this is this year's youngster or is an adult.

They have moved into a new area in the lagoon. The youngsters are almost as big as their parent.

I managed to get the four siblings in one photograph. They are growing up fast and starting to get the long legs of adult hood..

Seem to be fast growing up, just starting to get its long legs.

looks like this youngster is learn to preen from its parent!!!

I was able to count 4 chicks at one stage but were too spread out to get them in one photo.

Testing my new SX60 camera out. It is easy to find the target with it compared to the SX50. However one has to be careful not to steady the camera. This photograph was taken between 80-90M away. It show the power of the camera.

They are growing up and are becoming suspicious of me. They move off quickly now!!

I just had to show these two little Pied Stilts I took yesterday.

Sorry another Pied Stilt taken with the 50SX helping me to get to know the camera. The Maori name "Poaka" sounds almost like its call.

This is the SX50 attempt at taking this Pied Stilt chick. I could get up to five times more photos with the 60D + 100-400 zoom lens. With the SX50 it was very difficult to find the chick in the viewer.

I am get a real telling off for photograph its chicks!!

I then spotted two of them!

These little Pied Stilts seem to blend very well with the background. I almost missed them.

These Stilts are common in Hawke's Bay where there is water. Himantopus himantopus this is the latin name from Barrie Heather & Hugh Robertson: Field Guide to the Birds of New Zealand, 1996. Himantopus leucocephalus is the latin name used in the field guide by R.A. Falla et. al. 1966.

These birds are always good value to photograph.

This bird look so good on one leg to me.
