Spotted near a pair of bald eagles overlooking a field full of prairie dogs

While looking for large raptors, this little beauty showed up.

A digiscoped photo of my first Prairie Falcon (lifer #369), seen near the Nebeker Ranch (W. Ave. B at 60th St. W) in the Antelope Valley.

I'm not too pleased with this image, but it is the first I've ever taken of this falcon. 1) too large a crop, so there is noise; 2) I don't like telephone pole perches; 3) resolution and accutance is showing 'specularization'. All-in-all poor technique.

First time I've seen one in several months. A good sign.

Here is one more of him as he flew by for another try. We watched him try three times, but he soon gave up with no luck.

This prairie falcon was hunting shorebirds in a lite snow storm.

A lucky day in Boundary Bay with my friend David. Took this shot when a Falcon spotted 500 foot away started to fly towards us. Only recognized after viewing the image that it is a Prairie Falcon. According to an experienced birder, the last one sighted in The Lower Mainland was 7 years ago...
