Prothonotary Warbler at Heard Museum and Nature Preserve

This sweet little Prothonotary Warbler visits our yard every evening! It never stops moving.

Well that's how I felt when I spotted this Warbler ;) Don't see them too often.

The males of this species, when in breeding plumage have an extremely intense orange-yellow underside.

My first and so far only Prothonotary Warbler (lifer #458), a vagrant female bird that was present for a few days in the tamarisks along Laguna Rd. between Oxnard and Camarillo in Ventura County, California.

One of my favorite Warblers. I only get this one when I go out to Ohio for migration. Never see them around my neck of the woods. They are one of the few that actually nest there at the marsh in Ohio and don't go on up to Canada to nesting grounds.

Taken on April, 28, 2013 in High Island, Texas. Taken with Canon 50D, 300 f/2.8 IS II lens and 1.4x III tele-extender, f/4, 1/320s, ISO 1250. Slightly sharpened, adjusted level, color vibrance and reduced noise. Moderately cropped.

I watched this little guy flitting from one branch to another for several minutes but was only able to get one grab shot of it.

Well, we put up a bluebird house on the lake, and got a tree swallow. They fledged, and now this moved in. I had to look it up, I had never seen nor even heard of this beautiful yellow bird before. They seem very tolerant of humans, it flew up and went in the nestbox with me standing not 3...

We'd almost given up looking for this bird-rare in the city-when it dropped from the canopy and caught and devoured a Red Admiral Butterfly at our feet-amazing!!
