Lovely little burst of golden yellow - unfortunately, not a very common sight as they migrate through Florida - I've only gotten to see this bird one time so far!
On my second walk in City Park, I'm pretty sure I heard Prothonotary Warbler in the canopy above me, but the bird I finally saw and got a photo of may have been a Yellow Warbler (which I was unlikely to hear at that distance, as they're much quieter than the Prothonotaries). Oh well. Yesterday I...
My first and so far only Prothonotary Warbler (lifer #458), a vagrant female bird that was present for a few days in the tamarisks along Laguna Rd. between Oxnard and Camarillo in Ventura County, California.
One of my favorite Warblers. I only get this one when I go out to Ohio for migration. Never see them around my neck of the woods. They are one of the few that actually nest there at the marsh in Ohio and don't go on up to Canada to nesting grounds.
Taken on April, 28, 2013 in High Island, Texas.
Taken with Canon 50D, 300 f/2.8 IS II lens and 1.4x III tele-extender, f/4, 1/320s, ISO 1250.
Slightly sharpened, adjusted level, color vibrance and reduced noise. Moderately cropped.

We'd almost given up looking for this bird-rare in the city-when it dropped from the canopy and caught and devoured a Red Admiral Butterfly at our feet-amazing!!
This was the 2nd bird I photographed on my Ohio trip. It was also a life bird for me. These birds nest in the swamp there and there was a dead tree with cavity just about 12 feet off the boardwalk and the pair were carring nesting materials into the cavity for a long time the one day.
Just an...
