Barred Puffbird (Nystalus radiatus) Along Ro Indio Road near Jordinal, north of El Valle de Antn, Cocl Province, Panama. Secondary rain forest at ca. 622 m (2,042 ft) elevation, Caribbean-slope.
I really do not know how this came out as sharp as it did considering it was at 1/30 sec. shutter speed and I was hand holding. The lighting was atrocious of course because it was in the middle of the rain forest.
This was shot on the Plantation Trail at the Canopy Tower in Panama.
This amazing bird took a rest on a nearby branch after catching a huge grasshopper, tried to swallow it! Puffed out it's chest. Then flew off with the grasshopper still in it's mouth.
