    We're back and recovering from a 48 hour trip home! Not as many good photos as I had hoped - my 300 lens was in for repair and I borrowed a 100-400, which doesn't handle low light as well. I'll get back to browsing tomorrow.

    Spectacled Owl (Pulsatrix perspicillata subsp. chapmani) Off the back porch of Urraca Lodge in Jorupe Reserve, Loja Prvince, Ecuador. Tumbesian dry decidus tropical forest with giant Ceibo trees at ca. 480 m (1.575 ft) elevation.

    This was supposedly the young from last breeding season. The adults had fed it but had lately left it behind; it would be thrown off the territory once the older birds returned for the next breeding season was what we were told.
