We saw our first Purple Finch during the snowpocalypse here in Texas! Very excited for this guy!

I don't know who named this bird however I think he should be named, "Strawberry Finch,". I posted this bird before but I think this picture is better than the first one I did this year. (have you done that?)

    Purple Finch (female)

I had to have this one confirmed in the ID Forum.
  8. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

Yet another bird species that gobbled down the Serviceberry berries. I got to each exactly ONE berry from this tree this year! lol
  9. Purple finch

    Purple finch

Along with the Waxwings, these birds are gnawing down the berries at a furious rate
  10. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

A distant and very grumpy looking Purple Finch. Since I took my feeders down for the summer I have seen very few of these birds.

Me: "Please Ms Finch, can you move into the sunlight so I can get a pretty photo of you? Ms Finch: "Sure. How's this?"

    Purple Finch Male

Purple Finches here seem very susceptible to the trichomoniasis disease, and they were hit hard with it again last summer. I've had several females in the yard, but it's been a while since I've seen a Purple Finch male. Nice to see this healthy looking guy show up this morning.

    Not the greatest

But I love when these guys stop by and I didn't have a moment to back off on the lens as he was moving around quickly.

Used to have loads of these birds come to the feeders. Lately have seen very few, so this girl was a nice sight to see recently

    Purple Finch

Have a few males and females that drop in from time to time. The males really look gorgeous in sunlight, but I only got a few frontal shots of this guy.
  22. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

A somewhat agitated purple finch, trying to work up the courage to fly down to a busy feeder. He eventually did and got a good helping.
  23. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

I love finding these finches that have either yellow or orange coloring rather than the rosy red. According to what I've read, most of the time the color difference has to do with what they eat. Feel free to correct me if this is a house finch.
  24. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

I counted 17 purple finches at my feeder or waiting in line on the nearby fence. I'm thrilled to say this is a personal record for me.
  25. Purple Finch

    Purple Finch

This beaut drops by every few days. We used to have tons of these birds in the yard but this year are only rarely seeing them.
