    Marsh rabbit

Just for something a little different - I mostly shoot birds because that's what we have the most of, but occasionally I get something different to shoot - like this marsh rabbit who popped out onto the levee. A fairly unique and hardy rabbit of the Southestern U.S. which lives in marsh and...

I think the rabbits haven't been quite so devastating to the NZ landscape as they've been to Australia's, but perhaps I'm wrong on that score ...?

Little Eagle catches Rabbit for Dinner! :))

This resident Little Eagle female is just the most amazing hunter. Day after Day, Season after Season, Year after Year, she successfully hunts, and provides for her family. Having watched her over the best part of a decade, she has shown a distinct preference and hunting style aimed at...

    Sleepy

and also looking a bit shabby-coated, so maybe not the healthiest bunny on the bluff, but the only one who sat still long enough for a photo. In a somewhat sheltered, shallow "bowl" where the bluff tipped away from the sea. Surrounded by Sea campion, which also seemed to be in...

  13. Feral/Domestic Rabbit

    Feral/Domestic Rabbit

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline at about 2m. Fine line between "wild" and "domestic" sometimes, with that middle ground being "feral" domestic animals. That's what we have here. He was smart enough to know we couldn't get him through the...

Came and sat there looking at me, while I was trying to photograph birds.

OK Don't laugh... but it's not often I'm close enough to get a picture of a rabbit, so I just couldn't resist this one.

I suppose there were rabbits along long stretches of the trail, but we only saw them at this one spot, just as we were starting the climb up the crags. Apologies for not browsing and commenting yet today. Been busy baking all day, practicing new gluten-free recipes for daughter's 40th birthday...

If He Takes One More Step I'm Out of Here

This is my favorite rabbit, just before he took off, because I was getting too near him.

What Big Brown Eyes You Have My Dear

I am posting this for all the members who are ophthalmologist. Three of these guys were running around in my back yard. I think they may have had romance on their mind.

Some material for the new nursery

This Cotton-tail rabbit is building a nest in my wife's herb bed. I hope to have a chance to get some images of the little ones.

    Brush Rabbit

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline at about 5m. This was taken through a gridded wire fence, hence the odd vertical and horizontal blur stripes.

    Brush Rabbit

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline at about 15m. Cute little critters. My girlfriend's DSLR was spooking them quite a bit, so it was up to me to get good photos (rabbits and hares are her passion). They really don't like being the center of attention.

    Wild Bunny in the pasture

My main reason for taking this photo was to see if I could use my new my camera for something as far out as this little rabbit was. If I had to estimate, I'd say it was approximately 450 feet away, in what my husband and I jokingly call our 'back-40' (in actuality it's about a 1/2 acre behind...
  25. Eastern Cottontail Rabbit

    Eastern Cottontail Rabbit

This is one of our resident rabbits. This one is about half grown I believe. He was in our backyard eating and he ran to the fence and stopped. This placed him in heavy shadow. I was lucky to get as good an image as I did.
