Here's a Sharpshin Hawk that took a Junco from my feeder,and took it to the next yard swing set to eat it. I live in the middle of downtown St john's Newfoundland, and its amazing the birds I see at my feeder.
Early morning walk on the beach in Cayo Guillermo, Cuba, found this chap catching his breakfast. The crab had been crossing the boardwalk and was an easy target...took a while to kill though.
This light brown colouration is a Cuban specific (gundlachii), the Black Hawk is actually black elsewhere.
I roused this bird up, driving by a field and he perched up in this tree with his backside toward me. I drove very slowly and made some squeeking noises trying to get him to look around. On cue he turned his head around and this shot is the result.
