This is just to show that Ove was correct when he wrote last week that swinging the tail means there are juveniles nearby.

Saw lots of Red-backed shrikes but it was hard to get close enough for pictures.

There's a bit of an optical illusion with the tail here.

It began to feel absurd to squeeze the Shrike into the frame with no space around it. I should have concentrated on composition rather than getting as close as possible but this was a novel experience for me.

I've never previously got as close to Red-backed Shrikes as I did that day.

This one was exhibited at the Photographic Trade Fair in Stockholm during the weekend as part of Biofoto's exhibition. The Stockholm branch of Biofoto has about 80 members.

At this point I was having difficulty fitting it into the frame.
