  1. That Kodak moment

    That Kodak moment

when a bird poses in a particularly photogenic location. Of course, I should have moved my focal point so as to get the bird better framed, with more space in front and less behind. But oh well. It's still a lovely spot s/he picked.
  2. Sentinel

    Sentinel

Solitary Red-billed Gull watching the calm harbor. Meanwhile, dozens of Red-bills and Southern Black-backs were dancing in the wind over the breakers where the sea wall met the shore, I presume looking for edibles among the flotsam the waves were tossing into the air.
  3. Red-billed Gulls

    Red-billed Gulls

This photograph backs up Tom's (Flossiepip) photograph of his gulls washing together. I also think they like fresh water to wash out salt on their feathers.
  4. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

This one has a red bill compared to the yesterdays black bill.
  5. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

It is having trouble trying to swallow that fish, it has just caught!!!
  6. Red-billed Gulls

    Red-billed Gulls

Lovely to see them flocking like that.
  7. Young Red-billed Gull

    Young Red-billed Gull

Just at the point of change to adult plumage.
  8. Red-billed Gull.

    Red-billed Gull.

Looks very much like the Black-billed Gull.
  9. Red-billed Gull.

    Red-billed Gull.

This gull is amongst heaps of rubbish deposited on the beach after a storm and very high tides.
  10. Red-billed Gull.

    Red-billed Gull.

Gulls were putting on a show in shallow water.
  11. Juvenile Red-billed Gull

    Juvenile Red-billed Gull

I took this photograph with my latest acquisition, which is a Canon Power Shot SX50 HS Camera. Not a bad camera, the only fault I find with it is trying to find the target. Not nearly as quick as with my other equipment.
  12. White-fronted Terns

    White-fronted Terns

All appear to be following each other, the Red-billed Gull is not doing the same.
  13. Sea Birds

    Sea Birds

Great to see the three species on the beach resting and bathing. They were attracted here to a large number of fish travelling along the beach.
  14. Got me a fish

    Got me a fish

This Red-billed Gull along with other gulls and terns were catching many fish passing close to the beach.
  15. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

This was taken while they were being fed with bread.
  16. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

These gulls were chasing the Oystercatchers with mussels, trying to make the drop the mussels.
  17. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

This gull is having a bit of a wonder thru a tidal pool.
  18. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

Looks like it has had a bit of an accident with its wing.
  19. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

This juvenile Red-billed Gull found an opened mussel that was probably eaten by a Black-backed Gull.
  20. Sleeping

    Sleeping

Caught this group resting on the beach the other day.
  21. Juvenile Red-billed Gull

    Juvenile Red-billed Gull

One of a crop of juveniles from this years breeding colony.

This gull looks a bit annoyed to me.

  25. Red-billed Gull

    Red-billed Gull

This red-billed Gull was putting on a real display to others in the area, chasing them around as well.
