Found some of these out from about 2005 when i changed to digital. i remember it being a very long shot and only took a few images....forgotten i`d still had them...
This was a first for me. I'm sure these red breasted mergansers have been at the reserve before, but yesterday was the first time I've ever spotted them!. They sure are unique looking!!
Why dont they come closer:-)... Saw this one and a group of common mergs in Algonquin today along with a common goldeneye and the first coot of the year... spring is here:-)
punk rocker of the birding world.I think this is a female,they are in eclipse plumage at the moment(or 1st summer).
This species are regular winter visitors in our local river.
