Back at the house, high up the top of the trees Judy pointed out a juvenile Red-capped Parrot! I didn't realise they had fledged already.
An awkward angle of course, so not the greatest of pictures.
After Alex had put the bowl of food on the grass, it attracted at least 7 Red-capped Parrots as well as the Laughing Doves and Common Bronzewings (but they didn't get much of a look in!)
There was much coming and going of these parrots, so I couldn't resist the opportunity of taking some flight...
Red-capped Parrots are mostly seen along the coastal areas of this corner of Western Australia around the Albany area.
The females and immature birds are much less showy than the brilliantly coloured male.
... take your pick please. Actually there's quite a few definitions of Redcap when you do some research LOL.
Hope you don't get bored with seeing these guys, they were such a novelty for me, and I only saw them in Alex's garden. Such handsome parrots too.

Thanks to Jonno, who found that a Redcap is also a goblin from the Borders (Scotland/England... particularly Northumberland) folklore. She looks rather benign, really, not the described .... malevolent and murderous!!!

Back at home after our leg stretch, more joys awaited, the first of which was a Red-capped Parrot.

I have the food bowl wired at a set distance from the top pot to stop the pigeons feeding The Red capped Parrots and Rosella's can still get in to feed.
Any movement brings them around for a look.
