I couldn't see the details. but I knew a battle was ensuing. The Red Headed Woodpecker was very involved with something in the tall grass, but it wasn't clear until I uploaded the images. In the end, the Woodpecker flew off with a meal.

This guy or gal has been frequenting my back yard lately. A pleasure to have him/her.

I have seen so few of these birds and only had two different birds to photograph , but once they are located you sure can have a lot of fun.

Finally caught one sitting still for a while this morning. There about 3 to 4 of them around work.

These guys are always around but can be pretty scarce around where I live. This winter however, they were everywhere. I think it may have been because we had a good acorn crop, while other states suffered this last year.

New to my feeder and we played a hard game to get a decent photo for 3 days.

This fella and his mate are nesting in our backyard. They are a joy to watch.

This woodpecker is quite rare in our area and for unknown reasons is overwintering along with a juvenile. Taken at -28 degrees C

These boogers are hard to get close to! This one sat at his fencepost for a brief period.

This little woodpecker is even more striking when the white in his wings flashes as he takes off in flight.

This bird just would not cooperate with me, i wanted himn to come down to a lower perch, but no luck there.
