Taken through the window. A young kite (note eye colour and plumage) in Aug.The kites regularly come down to drink out of an old pond liner I have, filled with water. Kites, buzzard, sparrowhawks, and crows use it regularly.

Are there Red Kites near Stansted Airport?

In November of last year, I drove to Stansted Airport in London to get to Poland. The four hours staring out the window were very productive mostly due to the good weather with three kestrels hovering over the motorway (my first), two buzzards, one flying relatively low over a motorway bridge...

I saw about 20+ in a tree, probably the most I've seen at once, let alone perched! They kept flying off and then returning, although the lighting wasn't great, I got one or two acceptable shots!

Red Kite for someone special :)

I have just realized that I don't usually post my art here... so I am posting this because I am quite proud of this quick artwork of mine. If you have read some of my previous posts, you may have noticed that I really like red kites. They have always been special birds to me, as they were the...

A Long Week of Campus Birding: A Summary of Events

Haven't been active on here much, but I am very glad to say that I have been birding constantly over the past few weeks, and that I would gladly wake up early in the morning just to see the birds around my school campus. Since I was gone, I have seen many different types of birds that are new...

Golden Eagles spotted Crawleyside/Stanhope Moor Durham?

Re: Photos taken yesterday when out on a bike ride around Stanhope Moor of Durham Hi there, I'm new to the forum with a modest interest in UK birds, nothing too fanatical. However, after sharing these photos with my dad initially thinking it was a Red Kite or perhaps Marsh Harrier, my dad now...

    Juvenile Buzzard?

Hi all. It turns out that harvesting brings out the birds of prey, I guess it flushes out all sorts of critters. I watched this bird on the ground for quite some time before three Red Kites turned up and either wanted its meal or didn't like its company. That said, I'm not sure what the bird is...
