red-necked avocet

A flight shot this time from yesterdays short outing . Managed to pick up a tick on my scalp for my troubles but all clear now . Nasty little buggers .

Managed to get out for a couple of hours this arvo , in between working on house renovations .

With the sun so high now after 10am it's very hard to get flight shots without too many shadows .This one taken closer to midday and also very hot.

Still a few of these hanging around locally

An infrequent visitor locally and only by luck that I came upon a few of these the other day , was only at this spot to try and get close up shots of the Dotterels.

Back to back they faced each other. Dull and freezing cold here today max 17c so going through some old files.

First time I have seen these over the Wetlands but water is drying up and plenty of muddy margins for the various waders to poke about in.

I have wanted to see these guys in flight for a long time and to get 5 in the frame was just magic to me........thought it was appropriate for this comp.
