I was observing a large flock of Sparrows, when some atavistic nudge told me to look up. I was able to remain quite close for several minutes. He was observing the sparrows as well.
Been very busy with some major home improvements, so haven't had much time to visit bird forum or even pick up the camera much this summer so far.
Saw two different types of hawk having a bit of a tiff. The near one in this shot is almost certainly a Red Tailed Hawk, I heard it's distinctive...

About the best raptor photo I've ever managed. This is one of two RSH that were lazily circling high over a field near my house. You just never know when you'll see one of these. I got one good shot and then they were gone.
This lovely hawk came and perched on my swing set before changing to a low branch in my tulip poplar tree further back in the yard. Saw him on the ground a couple times, but couldn't be sure if he got anything or not.
