It's all to do with the tail

During a recent visit to Loch of the Lowes I learned that the way to tell Red Squirrels apart was to check their tails. So now I'm trying to make sure I get a picture showing the tail. Not got very far with that yet I'm afraid

    Lighting the way

Otherwise known as "I missed"! On a June visit to Loch of the Lowes, I spotted a Red Squirrel in a tree, nicely posing there too. But as soon as I went to click, his whole body disappeared, leaving only his tail which was catching the rays of the sun through the leaves! Not to worry, though...

    Is he back???

I showed you a Red Squirrel some months back, which was the last time we saw him in July. Then when we visited on the 24 November, there was one stuffing his face with peanuts. Oh how excited we were to see one back. Sadly we've not seen him since. So not a Saturday Fun one today. I thought...

    Another farewell

This Red Squirrel had been a constant visitor for a few years at the Craighall feeders (at least I think it was the same one). Sadly this was the last time we saw him in mid July. So both the squirrels have gone and so far nothing has moved in to replace them at either feeding station.

    I'm sure he's grinning!

Late June now, back from my holiday and supposed to be recuperating from an op. However it didn't go ahead sadly. So consoled myself with a visit to our feeders and the main species of interest was a Red Squirrel! I'm sure that's a cheeky grin on his face having pinched a peanut from out of the...

At my forest feeding place. I stopped feeding at the end of March. To make the "transition" easier for them, did I put seven fat balls there. Two days later where all fat balls and one fat ball feeder stolen. I fed the birds for 5 months and spent about 200 Euros for bird seeds. What a reward...
  18. Who, me?

    Who, me?

Another spot the squirrels are accustomed to being fed is at the bird feeder station on the path up to Estenstad Cabin. I think the original idea of the feeder there was to get kids interested in the many birds that visit it, but the squirrels have pretty much taken it over and are an even...
