  1. Red Squirrel

    Red Squirrel

I suddenly spotted this gorgeous squirrel sitting in a tree, eating something tasty of course. Well I mean what else do they do LOL After that we had quite a few sightings of one around the feeder area. TTTW - a very large plate glass window at the visitor centre.
  2. Red Squirrel

    Red Squirrel

This delightful Red Squirrel entertained us for a while with his antics. He (or another I suppose) returned later to different part of the feeding station, but unfortunately there was some blue wire (or something) hanging down right between me and his head!!

    Tailing The Back

To tell a tale about my tail is no short story.
  5. Red Squirrel

    Red Squirrel

It was just about time for us to move on from Montreathmont and I thought the squirrel was going to let me down, but we spotted him as we were following the path away from the little hide. He just wouldn't move away from the little twig that stuck up by his face sadly. We had another gale came...

    Red Squirrel

No visit to Loch of the Lowes would be complete without a sighting of a Red Squirrel, and this one sure didn't disappoint me - he kept me well entertained while Paul was examining the different telescope options. He sat for ages happily munching away at the peanuts. TTTW

    Feeding this time

Sorry, couldn't not show you a picture of him feeding. I can even see the tufts on his ears on this shot. Hope you don't mind another. Ian and Gillian were a bit more excited to see him, as they don't have them in may places in England.
  10. Red Squirrel

    Red Squirrel

He couldn't get away quick enough, could he LOL Think I was lucky to get so much of him in the frame, it was such an unexpected leap. I think there's two toe nails missing!!
  11. Saturday Fun.....

    Saturday Fun.....

.... or the eyes have it It's taken me a while to post this one, as I'm still trying to work out what was going on here. It appears that the only part of the head to not be suffering with motion blur is his eyes and I don't know why/how LOL. His ears must be flat against his head I think. I...

    Weekend Wildlife

That Red Squirrel I showed you a week or two back made about 3 more visits to the feeders. He was an absolute joy to watch. I just had to show you another picture of him.
  13. Easter Squirrel

    Easter Squirrel

.... sorry, don't have a bunny picture. This gorgeous Red Squirrel was hiding in the nut feeder at Loch of the Lowes - couldn't believe how sweet this image was when i downloaded it. I do have some nice 'proper' pictures of this guy, which I'll likely share with you another day. TTTW
  14. Red Squirrel

It always makes me smile when I see one of these pretty squirrels, especially when they sit for long enough for me to take a picture. He'd found the feeder at the approach to the Gullery Hide.

  24. Did they drop more seeds over there?

Did they drop more seeds over there?

Somehow the birds have managed to make several "midden" piles, not just directly under the feeders, but also under the pine tree where they often perch to open seeds, and for some reason another pile out on the lawn. This squirrel was scurrying from one pile to the next picking through...
  25. Under the table ...

    Under the table ...

but not drunk. Not sure why the Coal Tits toss out so many seeds. Maybe they don't want to bother opening ones they decide are "too light", concentrating on the ones that promise most food value for the effort. Maybe they plan on coming back for more later, down in the grass where they...
