.... and no, I'd not been drinking... I did have the camera level. They put the feed out on an old farm trailer!
I managed to catch a Spotted Dove, a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets and the male Red-winged Parrot, who'd decided he was hungry after all.
Then I found the male up in a tree. Seems to be sussing out the lie of the land before risking exposing himself any further LOL.
My breakfast was at risk of getting cold!
The following day we were off early again, this time to explore the Bunya Mountains.
Our first stop was at Maidenwell, where the Trading Post was open to serve us breakfast (and very good it was too). They'd already fed the birds and here was a female Red-winged Parrot on her way to get it...
Of all the parrots I've been able to photograph, the male Red-winged must be the most beautiful - its colours are incredibly rich, and the rump is brilliant turquoise, only visible when it flies.
This male Red-winged Parrot posed nicely for me with the sun on the right side. So often they have the sun behind them making for a less desirable photograph.
Talk about a challenge trying to get a good shot of these. I have tried a few times now but they proove very difficult. A small flock were feeding on Chinese Elm seeds. There were two mature males with these but no luck with them. This is a juvenlie male I think.
