One from a wonderful morning in Alan (The Valley Walker)
own personal garden paradise. Given the prime shooting position, tea and bacon sarnies,, Cheers for your hospitality Mate. My first ever Redpoll.
Just trying to re-aquaint myself with the 30D!! Sun was very in & out, so settings kept changing a lot, so least after a few hours i knew which buttons to press :) Was trying to get a pic of the very 'red fronted' bird that can be seen, but with little success again, however this one popped...
This one was a bit of a 'frame filler'!!! Rather obligingly jumped onto a branch very close to the hide...any closer & it would have been in there with me :) - Mike
Went mainly to try & get some 'snaps' of the bird with the very red chest, as it eluded me last time & i didn't do much better this time...however one bird obligingly sat on this teasel head for a while, which unfortunately co-incided with the sun going in for the umpteenth time :) Also...
I assume a young/female Redpoll? as it doesn't seem to have any red on its head, like most of the other birds i took pics of. Not as sharp as i'd have liked, as not really used the lens much, so my hands were shaking trying to lift it up & keep it still :) But thought i'd give it a go...
Finally got some decent views of Redpoll...having only seen them briefly in the past & often in the middle of vegetation!! Very nice to see them flitting about & posing quite nicely at times :) - Mike
