still could not get any king fisher, last year the pied king fisher was recorded this time, but i also did not find it. this lovely one was enjoying it time with many waders on the lawn. hope you like it.

Something happened to relieve the boredom of a grey day, a tussle between two redshanks competing for I don't know what, near the river-bank.

Another distant shot, here heavily cropped, probably beyond what the original photo quality can sustain. But oh well. Just to document how much fun it was watching this Redshank hop up out of the reeds again and again like a kangaroo on a pogo stick. It was, I gathered, part of the mating ritual.

Last one of the Redshanks, marching in step along the shore, looking for a likely spot to dig for clams and worms, I guess.

Watch'n the tide roll in, then we'll watch it roll away again. These two red shanks had found a rock to perch on, and to keep between themselves and passersby on the Lade Point Trail. The tide was coming in and at about half tide the various waders got to work foraging, moving gradually closer...

I guess I have made a mess of that heading/caption,just struggling for photos ,at the moment,but these guys,all seem to be in harmony ie all legs ,wings etc,are moving in the same place at the same time.

Lots of red legs.Masses of these birds congregate on the shore line as the tide ebbs.

Also Dunlins.A huge group of these guys,just sitting /standing(on one leg!!!) in the glorious sunshine yesterday,as the tide came in .
