We have had 30+ Fieldfares and Redwings (Winter thrushes) in Manchester, on Store Street, behind Piccadilly station this Xmas day ! FAB !

Went in search of these lovely birds this morning and wasn't dissappointed. I ended up in a layby on a very busy A road opposite about twenty of them. Well pleased as these are the first i have managed to pohotograph.
Like Fieldfares I discovered the trick with these birds is to sit and wait by a tree which you have previously seen them (or Fieldfares) visiting - can be a long wait tho - wrap up well! Actually, I did not realize this was a Redwing until I started processing the pics in my PC - so it was a...
Would you believe it, been out in the morning trying to get a few shots of Redwings, no luck at all. Just happened to look out the window in the afternoon and 3 were in the front garden.
These couple of shots were taken through glass but didn't come out too bad.
On this cold and snowy day about 200 mixed Redwing and Fieldfare were in the park.
Unfortunately this bird likes to keep its distance and they have enough lookouts to stop being accidentally approached.
