Now you see I was so sure that I'd put some of these on that I've never given them a second thought since but after meeting my good friend Christine and sharing in the joy of her first ever Redwings I thought I'd better check back through my gallery. Well of course there's only one word that...
1st time I have seen this species.I met up with Jaff at Muncaster Castle.Lots of yew trees near the old church. The trees were full of Thrushes.Blackbirds,Redwings,Fieldfares, etc, all eating the yew berries. But not easy to manage a shot.Going to have another try tommorrow ,weather permitting
one from last winter - hoping for more this winter

Caught this one sitting through a dark wooded area, but the light that was on it caught my eye,as the sun was shining through the trees, and caught the side of the bird, and it turned it's head just as I shot, then flew off.
........cold rain turns to sleet and then to snow.
Locally it seems that Redwings have suffered here the most. At the peak of bad weather I had over 40 birds visiting my garden ......but at least six of these will not be returning home!
A very cold and very frozen day so I stopped at my favourite birdwatching spot of the CWP - that's the cafe!
In the car park were a few of these visitors.
Had to post this image as it was taken through my kitchen window around 4.00pm this afternoon.
I used a Canon 7D + Sigma 500 f4.5 + 1.4tc tripod mounted.
Camera settings were - shutter speed 1/5 sec, f-stop f5.0, ISO 800 and the image is cropped.
Needless to say I thanked the Redwing for...
Could be the last day for Redwings in my Garden as the weather is set to become mild and the berries are almost gone!.
