reed bunting emberiza schoeniclus

No posts last weekend as we were at Tkern, our favourite birding lake. The weather was great and I took a lot of pictures. All the Reed buntings at Tkern had similar plumage and I'm guessing they were juveniles rather than adult females. This one was kind enough to pose for me.

I've now got lots of new pictures to process from Tkern - when I find the time. This is from our last visit.

Had a great time at Srngen. No Bearded Tits or Kingfishers but Bitterns flying around in the reed-beds. No great pictures but still a step forward. And I did get some good shots of other species. Some unexpected.

Just as sun broke through the morning mist.

... for once. There was a small round hole in the side wall of the hide and I looked through it and there he was. 2 shots and he was off. Finally got my dad's broadband working but we're heading off to Mull tomorrow. Not much to report from Helensburgh but we're off to my favourite spot, Admore...

OK, it's a Reed Bunting perched on grass. :-)

This was a very obliging youngster.

Not often I get this close to a Reed Bunting. A young bird I think.
