ringed plover

Not the best shot in the world, but the smallest bird I'ved caught in flight I think!!

Imagine my surprise to find a Ringed Plover on a local stretch of farmland, imagine it then also when I found out it was actually a pair. Now picture the look on my face when I discovered it to be really a whole family of Ringed Plovers with two chicks!!! :eek!: Well I mean they don't nest...

a pair of these have settled in to the area to nest, seeing the male chase very other bird away was a delight.

Totally unable to hold the lens steady,it was so windy.But this little chap did look up to see what was happening around him.Have been to the reserve each day ,but no sign of him or the Wheatears ,they have all just vanished.

There was a large piece of limestone in front of this little bird,hence the sharp crop.Her partner was in the reserve.

This Plover was leading me away from her chicks that were down the other side of the rock, very clever bird

I knew two of the three kinds of bird I was looking at, but it thanks to a very small boy who was passing by, I found that I was watching my first Turnstones. The looked so amusing all facing the same way as if they were waiting for the next bus.
