  1. Blackbird

    Blackbird

I see lots of Blackbirds along the river, but usually messing about in the leaf litter where it's too dark to get a picture. This one sat up quite nice on a branch more-or-less at my head height with the river as a background.
  2. Red Squirrel

    Red Squirrel

Just occasionally I get a glimpse of a Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)when I'm walking the river, this one had the decency to stop for a second; the following three attempts produced nothing but branches and twigs - they don't half move fast, don't they!
  3. Another I have to go and seek

Another I have to go and seek

Bullfinch is another one that's not visited my feeder (though I saw one briefly in the neighbour's tree during the snowy weather), but this was just about the second bird to show itself when I walk along the river the other day. This is the only picture I got that showed his colours, all the...
  4. If they ....

    If they ....

.... won't come to me, I suppose I've got to go find them instead. 12. Snarling ice

    Snarling ice

After watching the swans and various ducks for a bit, I walked down the icy path to the rapids where we've seen dippers before. No dippers that day. I think there was too much water being let out through the power stations. This was the only boulder visible above the water. A common dipper...
