rock pipit anthus petrosus

Was surprised when I didn't see any Rock pipits in Helensburgh at first but I needn't have worried.

A trip to Margate hoping to the White-billed Diver, which unfortunately failed to give an appearance BUT to every cloud there is a silver ling. The sun shone and I had plenty of other subjects to photograph.

The bird was flying back and forward between the ruined pier and its favourite tree. Looks like a slightly odd perch for a Rock Pipit though.

Here's the first of the pictures from Scotland. It hasn't been a great summer either in Scotland or Sweden but I think we were lucky with the weather. We had sunshine for our boat trips and there was only one day on Skye when it rained continuously. We just stayed in the hostel in Uig all day...

About the closet I've got to a Rock Pipit. A very tolerant bird.

Taken from above but fairly close. Had no great expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It never saw me at any rate.

Well, ok then, a Rock Pipit on a railway footbridge. :-)

Lots of Rock Pipits in Helensburgh. In Sweden I only see them out in the archipelago.

I took a lot of pictures of this bird but this is my favourite. I always enjoy watching Rock Pipits in Scotland but I've never got close enough to one before.

Another species I photograph every time I'm in Scotland but it's the first time I've got half decent pictures. This bird wasn't at all shy.
