  1. Same Rook

    Same Rook

Perching a bit more normally. Who needs two feet?
  2. Lame Rook

    Lame Rook

This Rook limped about but seemed to be doing OK. Like the other Slimbridge Rooks (and Wood Pigeon in the background) he was scavenging on duck food! I think it's the same bird seen in a wet and bedraggled state in the Gallery a few days ago.

    Bad Hair Day!

It was a rainy day and this wet and bedraggled Rook looked as if he was just waiting for the rain to go away.
  6. Sunny Rook

    Sunny Rook

You may think these birds are just black. They can be much more colourful when photographed, especially in good sunlight like this.

Oi Mate, What Times The Next Bus Then???

I had a pleasant day walking around Rye Harbour, got the bus from the harbour to the bus stop near Rye station. I had packed my rig away, and sat at the bus stop waiting for the next bus home. Three of these guys showed up, and I managed to get my rig out, and fire off a few frames before they...

    Frugilegus

I seem to be taking lots of shots of these great birds. They are always around at Slimbridge and seem easier to get near to than Jackdaws at the moment.
  12. Rook Slope

    Rook Slope

Battling amongst the tiny flies to find something worth eating. Got my 40D back now, so will soon be firing on all cylinders again.

Very delicately picking up some tiny seeds

    Surprisingly blue when photographed.

    Corvus Frugilegus

    One of my favourites.

    A Sip of Water

Another bird you can get near to at Slimbridge.

Rook surveying his new nest-Captions welcome!!!

A good time to take shots of these birds nest building, before the leaves appear. Just after I had taken this shot,I heard a Woodpecker in the nearby woods, went off in my buggy,up a steep incline, where even a quad bike would have struggled, got stuck in the mud,my buggy packed up,and I had to be...

    Great Outlook

I took this shot from about 75yds. through an opening in the fence to Hosehill Nature Reserve.Handheld 300mm.Nikon Lens.
  19. Two Black Birds

    Two Black Birds

I suppose the Moorhen is not really black. That's the first impression you get of them from a distance.
  20. Rook

    Rook

This one Rook always hangs out at the same spot at Slimbridge. It's the nearest I ever get to a Rook for pictures.
  21. Rook

    Rook

yesterday's picture of a Rook didn't show that really they are good-looking birds, this one does them a bit more justice.
  22. Rook

    Rook

I don't think anyone can call these a pretty bird, especially when they've got their mouth open!!
  23. Rooky

    Rooky

Went to Pett Pools yesterday, still too much water, so no waders about. This old fella was foraging alongside the car, so didn't have to get out in the cold for this un.
  24. Rook

    Rook

Three more shots of yesterday's bird

    Unusual Behaviour!

When did you last see a Rook trying to get into a bird feeder? I can't believe it managed to get anything.
