Following up on my seedy places theme ;). One of Trondheim's claims to birding fame is our flock of rooks. There are none south or east of us for quite some distance and none further north at all, and our rooks only hang out in a few spots around town - all of them on the east side of the river...

A leather jacket is the name of the larvae of the Crane Fly, which do a lot of damage to crops. LJs are a favourite food of Rooks.

I actually took this mostly for the colors on the roof tiles ;)

An unusual view of a bird I don't get close to often. I love corvids, such characters. You'd be forgiven for thinking these birds are black!

So much more than just another black bird! I was delighted to get such an interesting shot, given the fact that it was a dull, dreary, drizzly mid-November morning.
