  1. Thanks, Mum!

    Thanks, Mum!

Junior seems to be thoroughly enjoying the dinner menu, although whether it's good for him is another question entirely.
  2. Please, Mum!

    Please, Mum!

May I have some more, Mum? Sorry I didn't get this one framed right. Besides the two birds, I also wanted to show what Mum was feeding Junior here. She'd found a candle holder on one of the graves (that white cup-like thing on the right) and was feeding Junior the melted and cooled tallow or...

  4. 1 - Receiving stolen goods

    1 - Receiving stolen goods

... is not a crime when it's a hungry juve bird doing the receiving, even if the goods were stolen from a Spotted Nutcracker. I'm exhausted. Up at 5am this morning. Up a couple of times before that as well with an earache. Thought I might have to cancel the Dubrovnik trip. But when I took my...
  5. In the blink of an eye

In the blink of an eye

I thought the adults were weaning this guy off, but apparently they did give in to his begging occasionally. The adult may not even have noticed, as it happened literally in the blink of an eye ;)
  6. Please, sir. May I have more, sir?

Please, sir. May I have more, sir?

More summer memories: The adults were making this juv beg quite a while for any tidbits. I think they were trying to wean him, but he wasn't having any of that. Hopped around after them all over the cemetery, but wouldn't yet imitate the foraging techniques they were showing him ... and...

    Rooks take to the sky

Sorry I didn't get time to browse today. Had company. Will try to catch up tomorrow. And there go the rooks. I was headed back to Bow Street towards the end of my walk. Just about the end of the Wales visit too, then it's back to winter in Norway. But I have been getting some nice shots here...
  14. Gnarled tree full of rooks

    Gnarled tree full of rooks

Sorry I didn't get time to browse today. Had company. Will try to catch up tomorrow. The rooks were on a power line over a field full of cattle, but flew to this tree a bit further up the road when they saw me coming. I managed to edge my way a bit closer to the tree than to the power line...
  15. A little lower, a bit to the left ...

A little lower, a bit to the left ...

... Yes! Right there! I'm going to intersperse the shots from the cabin with some I've been taking in Wales the past few days. Friday we went for a hike on the Wales Coastal Path, southwards from Borth. Possibly the steepest hike I've been on since my surgery 2 years back. Felt good to actually...
  16. Rooky & The Rookets

    Rooky & The Rookets

Had a great day out with Sussex Peregrine Study group yesterday, got absolutely saturated, but still had fun. We visited two sites, and also found a new site, seeing a total of five adult birds, and four juves. It was great just to see these powerful birds, I did try for pics, but it was just...

    ROOKING ALL OVER THE WORLD

Good job I carried some nuts ...the rooks enjoyed them. hope you didn't mind my corny Status-quo joke! I took some excellent shots of these rooks and this is not the best but it is the one with the most drama. The DOF and composition should have been better. I think Annette and myself enjoyed...
