Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Eastern North America's only breeding hummingbird - though down here in south Florida, they only visit in non-breeding season mostly in the summer before buzzing off to Central America in fall

Ruby Throated Hummer, male, taken in early September. This year was the first in many that hummingbirds visited my back yard in any number.

A late Ruby-throated Hummingbird stopped in our garden for some R&R on its migration south, on 8th November. Fortunately we still had lots of scarlet sage plants in flower and a hummingbird feeder, but it didn't go to the feeder at all.

I went out on the back deck and watched this Hummer arrive. Looks to be a juvie male but not sure.

I never tire of seeing these little jewels.

They love the Lantana
